You will start out this kimono by knitting a ribbed neckband. After knitting this neckband you will pick up stitches for the yoke in this neckband, and now the neckband will continue as front bands all the way down to the bottom of the body of the kimono.
When the body is finished, stitches are picked up around the sleeve edge opening and the sleeve edge band are knitted while at the same time knitted on the kimono by knitting a stitch from the sleeve edge band together with one of the picked up stitches around the armhole opening.
The kimono is being knitted back and forth. Since the kimono is knitted top down, it is easy to adjust the length on the body.
